BOOK WEEK CELEBRATIONS – Week 7
Dear Parent/Carer,
Each year at Northview we celebrate Book Week with our students to acknowledge the wonderful work of Australian Authors and Illustrators and to share our love of literature. Children have the opportunity to engage in a range of fun activities relating to shortlisted books during library lessons and lunchtime activities and families are reminded of the ongoing benefits of early reading for future success.
Every second year we host a Book Week dress up opportunity where children are encouraged to come to school in character, or something relating to the theme/shortlisted books. This year's theme is 'Old Worlds, New Worlds, Other Worlds. So many options! This event will be held on Thursday, August 26th. Parents are invited to our shared picnic at 11am.
Please don't feel the need to purchase costumes. Part of the fun is involving our children in the creative process. There are also lots of ideas online. Students not wishing to participate can simply come dressed in their school uniform as normal.
Our Prep – Year 2 Book Week performance of, 'Your Birthday Was the Best' has been rescheduled to Friday September 10 at 9:15am. Students will still be able to participate in their swimming program as planned that day. A reminder that payment for this performance will have to be made before the event if you would like your child to attend. You were invoiced for $8.80 for this activity.
It has been wonderful to see our students again embrace the Premier's Reading Challenge. We have almost 100 children completed so far with only 2 weeks to go. The challenge finishes at the end of Book Week on Friday, August 27th. Still time to be included in our wall of fame in the Library.
